Originally built in 1816, 57 Sullivan Street is one of the oldest surviving townhouses in downtown Manhattan and believed to be the oldest house in the South Village. Maintaining the integrity and charm of the building was incredibly important. I love being a part of history in a city that I still like to call home.
I loved contrasting gleaming hardwood floors with a whitewashed brick fireplace.
I counter balanced a wall of closets with a warm pop of color to give the room more dimention.
I white washed the second fireplace and brick wall and then added accents of vintage hues in the kitchen. A farmhouse sink ties it all together.
In this historic unit, it was important to integrate both modern luxury and nostalgic charm.
Bringing color and brass into the bathroom gave it a retro makeover, while adding a shower and a vintage soaking tub gives it modern convenience with nostalgic decadence.
